Families and patients of Princess Margaret Hospital’s Ward 3B Oncology were treated to a well-deserved day of fun and magic thanks to Adventure World’s 5th annual “Big Day Out” Event.

The VIP treatment was rolled out for the in-patient and out-patient children and families of the oncology ward on Sunday 3rd April in the enchanting medieval world of Dragon’s Kingdom.

“The children and families who visit Ward 3B are amazingly strong and resilient people in the face of extremely challenging circumstances”, said Adventure World’s CEO Mark Shaw. “We want to take the opportunity to give these families a magical VIP day out at no cost to them. It’s our way of helping out”

Each year Adventure World hosts Ward 3B families with the support of supportive partners. This year’s highlight was a special guest visit and poster signing with Perth Wildcats players Greg Hire and Shawn Redhage, a performance of the Blinky Bill show, a petting zoo, face painting and balloons. Adventure World’s own Yarli the Loveable Dragon, his cheeky little sister Yarlotte and his friend Flossy the Fairy introduced the children to their friends PMH’s Stitches the Bear and Streets Paddle Pop Lion.

All of the families were treated to a special party lunch and special gifts. This day would not be possible without the assistance of major sponsors Bankwest and CCAmatil; close partnership with Rosie O Face Painters, Pirateman Michael, Kidzabuzz, the Entertainment Store and Old Macdonald’s Farm; and donations from Streets Icecream, Network TEN, Star West Event and Party Hire, Express Fresh, Ryan’s Quality Meats, Culley’s Tea Rooms, Cake Factory, Superstraps and Schnits.
