The Hon. Liza Harvey MLA, Minister for Training and Workforce Development, together with leaders of the training and VET industry and Adventure World management, congratulated twenty-five trainees who have completed Certificate II or III in Tourism and/or Hospitality whilst working at Adventure World this year.
In his welcome speech, Adventure World CEO, Mark Shaw, indicated that, “it is about this time of year people start to ask what our new attraction is going to be for next season. Those who have visited the park in the last 24 months will know and attest that our biggest attraction is indeed our people – and that’s no mean feat when you’re up against a $12m roller coaster or the new $7m world record breaking mega water slide!”. He went on to qualify that Adventure World had recently been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from popular review site Trip Advisor with regular 5 star ratings that mention its team members, and had also been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Training Initiatives from the Australian Hotels Association.
In her address to the trainees, family members and invited dignitaries, the Minister congratulated Adventure World on providing education to arm the growing Tourism industry with a quality and qualified workforce.
Adventure World employs 450 young seasonal workers each year. All employees who complete their induction receive two nationally accredited units of competency towards Certificate II in Tourism or Hospitality. Over the last ten years, more than 140 seasonal Team Members have completed full hospitality and tourism traineeships whilst working at Adventure World.
