Water Saving

Adventure World is a celebrated participant in the Water Corporation’s Water Efficiency Management Programme [WEMP].

Adventure World has made an outstanding effort to preserve Perth’s precious drinking water supplies. The latest water efficiency measures include the development of a Water Efficiency Management Plan which is reviewed annually.

Involvement in this programme involves detailing water saving targets, actions and initiatives, providing annual reports and on-going dialogue with Water Corporation, as well as attendance at quarterly seminars and lectures with other businesses in the programme to discuss ways to improve water efficiency.

Internal and independent audits are completed regularly to ensure that there are no leaks in any pools or attractions and include identifying and making recommendations for replacing older inefficient technologies. A data logger has been installed that allows hourly monitoring of water usage. A water conservation target is set to manage the current benchmarked water usage standards of 0.222kL per patron and to maintain industry standards. As a result, Adventure World saved nearly 29,000 kl of water last season and won a bronze award from the Water Corporation!

Team Members receive water efficiency training at induction, are made aware of all water restrictions and correct reporting channels for all leaks and or issues with water to management.

In washroom facilities all showers and taps have water saving heads and are fitted with timers to automatically cut off water supply after a prescribed time to prevent unnecessary water loss. Toilets are fitted with options for a half and full flush.

The 30 acre park is covered with hardy native plants in many areas reducing the need for watering. Mulch is used to surround trees and in all garden beds to reduce evaporation. Reticulation is pumped from purpose built lakes on site and lawns and gardens watered at night to reduce evaporation.

Adventure World has a “Neptune Benson” water re-circulating system which results in a saving of 75% of attraction water consumption through backwashing. The pump improves water efficiency through water re-use and wastewater management.

Adventure World has reduced its water consumption by over 20% and is one of the water efficiency heroes featured in a local TV programme, Greenfingers, focusing on waterwise practices in Western Australia.

Carbon Neutral Printing

Worldwide Online Printing is Adventure World’s printer of choice as Worldwide has achieved 100% carbon neutral status being certified “no co2”, “carbon neutral service”, “printed carbon neutral” from www.noco2.com.au and the coveted “green stamp” audited environmental accreditation.

The impact of business on the environment is monitored in many ways. It is through the engagement of environmentally responsible suppliers like Worldwide that Adventure World can continue to minimise this impact for the benefit of the wider community.
